1995 Blazer Starting Issue PLEASE ADVISE
Hello All.....I have a 95 Blazer, went to the park today, shut it off, went and did our easter thing, went to leave and the darn thing would not start. Tried so many times I killed the battery....went home charged that sucker and headed back with some starting fluid...it would start for a second and as soon as I applied that pedal it would stall out...would this be the fuel pump? Someone advised checking the inertia switch...but I could not locate it. I did find a thin black toggle switch just below the steering column...I tried it both positions but did not seem to make a difference...everyone I have spoken to has suggested the pump...if it is, where is it and how do i change it...need to take this on myself. Please advise.....thanks and Happy Easter to all.
Hello, I own a 95 myself, and experienced a fuel related problem, not knowing how to diagnose it I found this website and with the help of a terrific person (board owner) named Kyle, and a personal commitment to tackle the problem myself, I learned alot, thanks to Kyle (your the best!). Anyways, I spent days reading the hundreds of post on the site and Kyle posts taught my the first thing you do it test the fuel system with a pressure tester, which you can rent from a parts store such as auto zone. Test the fuel pressure (use instructions included with tester, or find DYI article walkthru). You should have 55 - 60 lbs of pressure without the truck running, but the ignition on, when you turn the key you should hear your fuel pump charging the truck with pressure for 2 seconds. If you do not hear that sound, and or your pressure is less then 55, you need a new fuel pump (located in gas tank) if you have 55-60 lbs, then you may need to check the fuel pump relay, and fuel filter. If this doesn't reveal the problem then you may want to pull the upper intake plenum and check for signs of a leaking pressure regulator. there is a walk thru on how to do this in the DYI section. I am sure that Kyle will see you post tomorrow and save you, like he saved me!
I am a novice, there are ASE cert, Mechanic such as Kyle who are a godsend for poor parent's such as myself, who cannot afford the dealership route. They can help you far better then I can, I have answered your question becuase I believe in returning the "karma" and passing on to other what have been giving and shared to me.
P.S. Kyle..... with your help, I fixed my blazer and she is running like a BEAST!!! needed a fuel pump and regulator. I will post a list of all the things I fixed on my blazer over the last 5 months of rebuilding her, most of which I would have NEVER accomplished without your website and your help. Without your help my most precious treasure would have never got the chance to ride shotgun in the Blazer!!
Both me and my 1 year old daughter Brie, are eternally grateful for all you did for us Kyle!!!

testing fuel pressure is first step like was stated.... if it is your fuel pump it will be in the fuel tank so you will have to take straps off and lower it, use two jacks and slowly lower it cause you dont want to break your fuel vent valve.
check your fuel pump relay also you should be able to it click on and off when you turn your key to the on position its in the glove box mine did the exact some thing a few years back and it was the relay
