Default 1996 S10 Blazer Fuel Pump

I have a 1996 S10 Blazer SUV (4.3 CPI gas (L35) engine / 4DR 2WD SUV / Central Port Fuel Injection (CPI) system / VIN: 1GNCS13W0T2294853)
It needs a new fuel pump. ACDelco/GM has discontinued the original fuel pump model. I would like to get an ACDelco replacement. Can anyone suggest, or know of, what part number/MU number to get?

Please provide a picture of your engine as the CPI engines were in the earlier trucks which had one large injector that batch fired all 6 cylinders at once. Those engines had a large aluminum upper intake plenum with the throttle body facing forwards. The 1996 trucks should have the SCFI (sequential central fuel injection) engine and had 6 individual injectors that fired sequentially as needed for proper cylinder timing. On the SCFI engine, the upper intake plenum is plastic and the throttle body points upwards.

As to the fuel pump that a 1996 truck would require, the GM #19179615 (MU1735) or DELPHI FG0030 are the preferred pumps for the 1996 SCFI 4 door application and are both still available.

I recently posted a fuel tank replacement thread. I used the Delphi pump, and it has paid itself off already in gas savings alone.

Thank you for your help everybody.
Just a reminder, I have a 1996 Chevy S-10 Blazer, 4.3 CPI gas (L35) engine, 4DR 2WD, LS SUV, Central Port Fuel Injection (CPI) system, VIN 1GNCS13W0T2294853.
I received three recommendations for a fuel pump, all were Delphi… FG 0072, FG0028, and FG0030. Based on all the research I've done, I'm going with the FG0028.
Wish me luck!

Ok... Good luck. I guess...

The Delphi FG0030 is the Delphi branded pump that is properly suited for your application.

The Delphi FG0028 shows as applicable to the 1996 Chevy/GMC S10/S15 pickups in the information that I am looking at. FG0029 would be for a 1996 2door GM S-series SUV. FG0072 shows as fitting newer (97-2000 and maybe later - I stopped scrolling) 2door model S-series SUVs so again different from your vehicle.

If you were just buying a pump, there likely would be cross-over. But when it comes to pumps in housings, there are a lot of variables that you have to take into account. The depth of the tank changes quite a bit across the variants (pickup, 2door, 4door, etc.) and that is why the part number changes along with a long list of other reasons.

Thank you swartikk. I've always identified my vehicle as an S10 Blazer when getting parts, and the auto parts places would look up parts for an S10 Pickup because I insisted it was not a Blazer. That's worked for just about everything I purchased as there is a hugh crossover of parts for the Pickup and my S10 Blazer. I've been pulling my hair out trying to determine what model pump to buy.
Then, after reading you last post, a google search (see below) tells me that in 1996 the model, built on an S10 chassis, was changed to "Blazer". I always thought the term Blazer referred to the larger vehicle, which apparently was changed to "Tahoe". So-o-o-o… if that's the case, then the recommended fuel pump is the Delphi FG0030, like YOU said.
Therefore is it correct to identify my vehicle as a 1996 Chevy Blazer?
1996 Chevy S-10 Blazer LS
4.3 CPI gas (L35) engine
4DR 2WD SUV
Central Port Fuel Injection (CPI) system

My Google AI search:
Question:
Is a 1996 Chevrolet S10 blazer the same as a blazer?
Answer:
Yes, a 1996 Chevrolet S10 Blazer is a type of Blazer, but it is not the same as the full-size Blazer from that era. The term "Blazer" was used for both a compact, S-10-based model (the S10 Blazer) and a full-size model that was known as the K5 Blazer until 1992, and subsequently renamed Blazer in 1992. By 1996, the full-size Blazer was discontinued and renamed the Tahoe, so the 1996 Chevrolet S10 Blazer was simply referred to as the Chevrolet Blazer at that time
And:
The 1996 vehicle you're asking about was a compact and mid-size model known as the S-10 Blazer, which was eventually just called the Blazer after the full-size model was discontinued and renamed Tahoe.

Once again, thank you for your help… BLAZE ON ;-)

Yes, you have a 1996 S-series Blazer that technically is an S10 Blazer although I don't know that it is called an S10 Blazer in the second generation sales literature after the 1995 model year vehicles.

You are correct that the 3rd gen full-size Blazer built on the GMT400 platform from 92-94 was renamed Tahoe after the '94 model year and I believe this to be the reason they dropped the S10 moniker from the S-series Blazer lineup in '95. The full-size K5 Blazer's were produced from 69-72 with the 1st gens and 73-91 with the 2nd gens.

So the Delphi FG0030 is the way to go?

Yes. I have said nothing that changes that.
