Question 1997 4x4 blazer remove front axle?

I have an vibration in my 1997 4x4 blazer....

I have just a week ago replaced the rear wheel bearings....but still vibration..
The vibration I feel in my feet at the driver side...

Now for a check I want to remove the front axle and make a test drive, because I think he's making the noise/vibration(U joint's or something)

question 1: can I drive without that axle ?I mean is it worse to drive with my front differential disconected from the transmission?
question 2: how do you remove the axle? I have try it with the 4 bolts loose but there is't enough space to get him out....

You can drive with the front axle shaft removed. You remove it by first unbolting it from the transfer case, then unbolting it from the front axle. It will come out.

thanx for the answer

When I remove the driveshaft at the tranny side....there is a rubber boot...is that difficult to remove? or just remove the iron ring that's hold it?

Actually, you may have to just pull out the driveshaft from the front of the transfer case. It may take a little prying, but I forgot that the smaller trucks are splined into the front of the transfer case.
