Default 1998 Chevy Blazer 4wd 2door

I just brought a 1998 Chevy Blazer 4wd 2Dr and my pops said the brakes are firm can anybody help diagnose the problem?

Taking the foot of the brakes helps...

honestly dont know where to start with this one...

"brakes are firm" sounds like a good thing. does he mean he cant depress the pedal at all? would be a failing brake booster or a vac leak on the brake booster hose/seals on either ends
