2000 4.3 threw rod need help
this post is for a friend he has a 2000 blazer 4x4 with the 4.3 v6 its basiclly trashed threw a rod and the block is shot. we're looking at just dropping in a used 4.3 but im a land rover guy and don't know the ins and outs of these chevy's. hes looking at a motor from a 2002 s10 it is a "w" code the only issues ive seen are the knock sensor which dosnt seem to be a big deal..
the other is what seems to be a lack of EGR valve on the 2002 we live in cali so emissions are retarded.
will the egr from the old motor bolt up to the 2002?
-do you have to swap the old heads....manifold ect... back to the 2002 motor?
if there are any other issue please any help would be great. we are both in the Marine Corps and deploying shortly.
Cheers,
Jeff

The intake manifold would have to be swapped over for the EGR valve, but the heads on down should work. As you noted, the other issue will be the knock sensor. I have not looked into this, but from what I recall, the 96 thru mid-02 knock sensor threads in while the mid-02 through end of production knock sensor bolts on. You may be able to drill out and tap the hole (1/4" NPT if I remember correctly) for the older style knock sensor.
