On mine I get I usually get anywhere between 430km to 450km out of a tank. I usually go just till the light comes on. Found that at a $1.00/L cost about $69.00 Bucks to fill.

Metalhead,

My 2001 Blazer gets around 420-450km a tank of fuel. Putting 40 dollars in really doesn't fill them up. With gas hovering around a dollar and with the tanks capacity being 68 litres it usually costs around 65-70 to fill.

I use my onboard computer and rest every time I fill just like my trip odometer. I usually fill up at around 55-63 litres used which on the gauge reads really low, practically empty.

I know it's harmful to run your tank to low for fears of burning up the pump, picking up sediment etc. But with the capacity of 68 litres filling up with 60 litresused shouldn't be harmful. Then check to see how many k's you get to a tank. They don't get the best mileage so trying to save fuel anywhere seems to help, regular maintenance helps.

Metalhead, I'm not clear on something - did you put in $40 worth, or did you fill the tank? Perhaps you filled the tank, but I can't see how that could total precisely $40 twice in a row. You need to fill the tank to the same level and check consumption based on the amount required to refill.

FYI, my '99 averages about 15-16 in town and 19 on the highway.

My blazer gets around 16mpg when I drive it hard (towing, racing, hauling 4 of my friends), but when I drive it on the road with my FCAI and FM 40, It gives me around 20mpg. I just wish there was a Blazer with active fuel management LOL.

You my find it interesting to peruse www.fueleconomy.gov. There are EPA fuel stats goingback quite along timeand you can post and view user stats as well. Additionally, I've heard that gas from www.toptiergas.com retailers works better too because of better detergent requirements.

Whenever my fuel economy goes down I think short list - air filter, spark plugs (platinums needed in many blazers & co.) good wires, cap and rotor, and of course fully aired tires. If you don't have these in quality condition, it's no wonder you're not getting good fuel economy. Also the MAF sensor as swartlkk points out above, cat conv, O2 sensors may be on the long list.
