Default how to tell if the 4x4 vacuum switch is broken or not

exactly as the title states how can i tell if my vacuum switch is broke. im leaning towards this being the reason my 4x4 doesnt work. my lights work properly,my transfer case engages the driveshaft, but the brand new actuator ijust installed is not pulling the cable. so im geussing the vacuum switch is not letting vacuum get to the actuator.

how can i tell if the switch is good or not?

The switch is only about $25 and they are known to screw up. From your previous post, I would replace the switch. If you have engine vacuum to the switch and no vacuum to the actuator when 4X4 is engaged.

If you are not getting vacuum to the acutator it could be two items:

1. The vacuum switch has failed

2. The vacuum hose to the actuator is cracked or leaking vacuum...

But also check other vacuum hoses...

can my vacuum switch be broken and the lights still work appropriatly as if the 4x4 works

ive been reading that if the lights dont indicate 4x4 when you press the buttons that the switch is broken.

but my lights say the 4x4 is working and its not. and i really think its the vacuum switch.

Well you could use the simple method pull the hose off with the engine running and check with a finger tip or get a vacuum pump & guage kit. With the kit you don't need to start the engine just pull the hose off and put the pump on the end and read the guage, if there is steady vacuum then your hose and anything connected to the other end have a good seal, but if the vacuum leaks down then either the hose or the part at the end are bad...
