I drove to work this morning with no troubles, pulled in the drive way put it in reverse and it would barely move. Got it backed up then put it in drive and it would barely move again. Got it parked and got out to see if I could notice anything but no? It does make a slight rattling or clicking noise when running and in park. Prior to this it felt to me like over drive was slipping a little. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this may be?

Also I just went outside and started it to see what would happen this time, put it in reverse.....it moved fine, put it in drive and it moved fine again. I didnt move it very far but it felt like it had plenty of power/torque like it should normally. Any suggestions will help! Thanks
I'm no mechanic though I have done normal repairs myself, and I do love my blazer but this could not have come at a worse time. Just bought the thing because I wrecked my other 2000 blazer over a week ago. I do still have the wrecked one which runs fine.

Possible:
Low fluid. Though your symptoms are reverse what I have seen. Usually acts up cold with slow shift out of reverse. When hot.. worn 'clutching' surfaces. Fluid may even smell burnt.. if so, it's done.
I'd be taking the thing to a trusted mechanic. And, if you are sure your old trans was tip-top {and transferrable}, find out what a swap would cost.

I did check the tranny fluid and the level was fine but the fluid looked kind of dark and a brownish color rather than red.
Does anyone else agree with pettyfog?
