Default 2000 LIL-Blazer starter. Issues

Hi folks:I need help with my wife's mini Blazer 2wd,4.3,Auto,151,000k
So I picked up what I thought would be a Diamond in the rough and Wow--- What was I thinking?????. That being said. Day 1 The starter grinded metal to metal, but one spin-fired right up and ran like new. So it only lasted my wife 1 Week, starter stayed engaged, frayed some wires,done.--- Since than I went to P-pull,replaced main starter wire, new Battery, and new To me Starter!----Now the starter/Pinion gear just hits the flex-plate and spins.

Every starter that I yanked out of these 4.3's Are not shimmed.-- promise-- I will get to the point-- Are the starters specific for this Vehicle? To save $$$$- All the regular parts house Az and "O,r" Only offer one 4.3 Starters same part# Camaro/Safari- Sorry so long- Any feed- back would be appreciated.Tnx

I believe that the starters are the same on all vehicles that use the 4.3L V6. However I do not think the 4.3L V6 was ever used in Camaros, do not know about Safaris.

You could check out RockAuto.com and compare vehicles/engines/starters.

I have yet to have to pull the starter off of my '02 so I do not know if there is a shim or not. My '95 Blazer had a shim though when I replaced that starter.
