2001 S10 A/C Stalls Car Quickly
Been lurching around on this forum trying to find a fix but figured I'd just register and post my issue:
A/C off everything runs fine.
A/C on and the belt squeals like a stuck pig and stalls the engine within a minute.
-The A/C clutch never turns. I know there's only a couple of reasons why. Low charge is one, so....
-I put a gauge and r134 can on the low port and reads 45-50psi. Clutch still won't engage when filling. Has the whole can in at this point.
-Bad relay? I tried the "jumper" trick on the a/c relay. It does nothing to the clutch. Still won't engage.
What else can I check? I have a paper clip with electrical tape, I have a voltmeter (somewhere in my garage), and I have the low side pressure hose to read the psi.
-Thanks in advance!
PS - I have noticed a bit of water sloshing sound when I first start up and move the truck. Is it possible that something is blocking the system or is this a normal noise? Seems to be behind the glove box area.

The water sloshing is air in the heater core, flush it, it will stop the waterfall.
Sounds like the compressor is frozen, what you describe is the clutch engaging the compressor and its locked up internally. Thats why you get belt squeal and the truck stalls.

Be sure to flush system & replace orifice tube check oil in compressor or back to junkyard u go. (Might be good idea to repace dryer too)
