My brother and I replaced the NP233 transfer case (3 button controller on dash) in my Sonoma on the driveway. We were able to just bench-press it into place together. I think it weighs around 75lbs. If you have the NP236 (4 button controller with auto-trac) then I think the transfer ase is slightly heavier, but not a ton heavier. I'm 97.3% certain it's less than 100lbs.
My 2c would be that you want two relatively strong people if you're doing it in your driveway, or a jack that can lift high enough. Even if you can bench press 400lbs, it's difficult to balance the TC with one hand, and guide it with the other. Having two people allows you to balance and guide it way easier. Dropping a 100lb transfer case on your stomach will hurt, no matter how many crunches you do each day.

Thanks for answering my question. I do have a partner for help. My next question is, How do you get at the top bolt? Seems like the back motor mount has to come out and drop it the 2 or 3 inches there is available...

Honestly, it was 10 years ago we did it, and I don't really remember what we did to reach that top bolt. I do remember we did not have to mess with the motor mounts. Probably some combination of long extensions and wobble joints.
Perhaps someone else who has worked on it more recently can chime in with advice.
