2003 -> 2001 4.3 engine swap. Any issues?

Need some advice. I have a 2001 4x4 Jimmy which my Dad overheated severely... cylinders 4&6 are no longer functional. It isn't blowing pressure into the crankcase or cooling system and there's no coolant in the oil so I'm guessing stuck or burnt valves?
Anyway. I have a line on a 2003 4x4 S10 with a good engine & transmission. Thinking about buying it cheap and having the engine alone (or the engine & transmission) swapped over by a mechanic. Is this doable? Is there anything which I need to look out for?

I believe the knock sensors are different, so you may have to get creative in mounting the old-style sensor (fairly simple) and you may need to swap over stuff like intake and/or exhaust manifolds, depending on which emission controls the two engines have, but it should work otherwise. To the best of my knowledge, anyway. One of the smarter guys on the forum should be along soon to correct me if I'm wrong.

Knock sensors should be the same. 2001 was first year for the second design. However, 2003 doesnt have EGR valve and i believe AIR system is either not there or quite different. Solution is to use the intake and exhaust manifolds from the 2001. The rest is identical as long as they are both 4x4 or 2x2. If different there, switch the oil pan.
