4 WD not engaging
G'day guys
I am having a problem with my son's 2000 LS that is having me scratch my noggin. We changed the front diff a couple weeks ago as the old housing had broken off the frame. On the one we installed when you engage 4WD you can hear it engage (HI or LO) but the front wheels are still not engaging and the truck acts as though it was still in 2WD? Where should I look first ?

I would jack up the vehicle. Make sure the slip (short) shaft is free in two wheel drive. You or someone pull the cable-preferably at the stub that is on the front differential-right where the cable hooks up. When pulled, does the slip shaft engage-you may have to rotate the wheels manually-slightly. If it does-engage, then your issue is from there back. If the slip shaft does not engage then you have an issue inside the front differential. Good luck-Jerry
