Default 4 wheel drive problem

I put in a new encoder motor and it shifts into 4 wheel drive but the push button does not light up all the time and it does not display on the dash saying it is in 4 wheel drive so I am wondering if it is the push button or the tccm having problems. I know I am in 4x4 because we have record setting snow in Feburary I am not sliding all over the place.

Do you have the 3-button (NV233 - RPO NP1) or 4-button (NV236 - RPO NP8) switch in the dash? You can test both, but the switch layouts are different. Check out the Tech Article (DIY) section for wiring diagrams, etc.

The switch for the NP233 transfer case is a direct switch meaning that there are wires for each button that run to the TCCM. You should be able to test continuity on the proper pins on the back of the switch when you press each button. The schematics are in a few different NP233/NV233 threads in the Tech Article (DIY) Index page linked to in my signature.
