Default 4 wheel drive question

I am an avid chevy owner, but this is my first s-10 blazer ever owned..
I have a 1995 4door blazer with the 4wd not working..the buttons on the dash
light up when i try to engage it in 4hi...but the front axle does not engage...

I was wondering what to look for in fixing this so the front axle will work..
thanks .

I had a similar problem on my 96 2DR, under the battery tray is the vacuum actuator. Check all the lines and the actuator itself.

Run a search on "vacuum actuator" and you should get more than enough answers.

I am going to get it up on jacks this weekend to find the problem(s)...
I am hoping it's just a vac. line..but with my luck, it could be something worse...it's on the verge of turning 200,000 miles and I'm sure it hasn't had an easy life prior to me buying it..

I wish it was as easy to work on as my 1979 IH Scout......
