Default 4 wheel drive wont work

i have a 98 jimmy and the buttons on the dash just blink when i go to engage in 4wd and i can hear a click either behind the glove box or kickpanel on passenger side. any hints to the problem here maybe switch or the actuator. thanks

check your tcase fuse. if its blown, its the switch itself.

it is in your fuse panel. on my 97 blazer its fuse number 19. spot is marked 4wd. left side of dash,, facing the door.

You probably have a code stored in your TCCM....you need to groung pin 13 of your DLC and check for codes....if you are not sure what a DLC,TCCM,code or ground is...then do a search on this site it has been covered MANY times.

it is probably the "incoder motor" or the transfer case shift motor (they are the same thing) you can get them from most auto parts stores.
