Unhappy 4LO engaging by itself

Aloha,
I need help. Just yesterday after 2-3 years of having my 98 Blazer, the 4LO is going on by itself. I noticed yesterday when I was driving home, my Blazer was driving funny, it had like a pull and jerky approach...at first I thought the transmission was missing...then I looked and noticed that the 4LO light was on. It never was on before, I never ever used the 4X4 buttons. So when i got home, I put it in Neutral and pressed the 4LO again and nothing happened. Then I pressed the 2HI and both the 4LO and 4HI went on on the same time. I pressed the 2HI again and it all went off. Then later when I drove again somewhere, the light wasn't on, then later the 4LO went on again when I was driving. It happened 4 times yesterday and twice today....it seems to me that when I drive it's fine, but when I come to stop lights or slow down it kicks into 4LO by itself. I can seem to turn it off, but it automatically goes on again. What is going on? Anybody know? This is the first time ever. I drove through a car wash yesterday-- could the car washers have hit something on the tires to make it do that? I also changed and added fluids under the hood, I tried to be careful, but my hand did hit some wires by the transmission and engine oil fluid dispensers--- could that have caused it. As you can see I'm clueless, I don't wanna take it in and pay and arm and a leg...can it be simple enough to do it myself??? Please help, MAHALO!

wow that sounds like a hell of a issue and could of been a bad result. id say check ur wires and it could possibly be ur switch or 4wd computer that short circuited but thats my guess. if u had some spare parts id switch things over and see.

That does sound weird, never heard of that happening before to anyone. If you don't have spare part's laying around I would get it back in 2HI and pull the switch out and leave it out for awhile and see if you feel it switch back into 4LO, if it does you can rule out the switch. But keep the switch handy so if it does you can put it back in the switch back to 4HI.
Good Luck and let us know what you find out!
