Default 4wd engages by itself

I have a 95 blazer that I just started driving. twice today I got this like grinding noise coming from frontend. The first time I just pulled over and when I was doing approx 15 mph I heard a clunk and it was ok after that. The next time I was doing approx 60 on the highway and it started and I pushed the 4 wheel high button andthe noise went away so I pushed the two wheel button and continued on. I have a new actuator and vacuum switch in the transfer case. Does anyone have any ideas, I saw a previous post but did not read any final outcome. Any ideas would be appreciated, wnk.

Are the vacuum lines on the vacuum switch mounted properly, it is possible to get the lines mixed up....

would be curious if you find an answer to this problem as I have a 01 ZR2 and its doing same thing.Swartlik or whatever his name is said he thought it was a wheel bearing but its not that. Its trying to go int 4 wheel and when it does it makes a low growling noise from the rt. front pass side

Yes I did look at the thread that was 2 years old but they never posted the fix for that issue.I put a new actuator switch from Napa on my truck and seemed to still have the same issue.I pulled off the actuator from Napa as I had seen a small amount of oil residue in the lines again after cleaning them out. I replaced the actuator with one from GM and have not had that issue as of yet but will keep you posted if it fixes that problem.I had read that GM came out with a more heavy duty actuator that replaces the old one and they said it is not so apt to fail as the past ones,we will see.

Hey JPM how much did the new actuator cost and was it easy to replace. Mine has been doing that and I plan on getting a new actuator for it when I get home from Iraq for now the wife only drives it twice a week to go grocery shopping.

It was 40.00 from the dealer .I take it you are in the military and if so thanks and good luck.No not hard to replace .Its on the drivers side on the upper back of the transfer case.Just need a seven eights wrench and it has 3 vacum hoses going to it.It un screws out of the transfer case and screw new one in and put vacum hoses back on actuator and you are done

I think it deserves more credit than that,to me it
shows the person actually tried to help himself by using the 'search' function
and didn't just lazily post in ignorant fashion as some other fleeting users post.
