4x4 Blowing Fuses
Thanks for the reply's its definitely helpful. For some reason late last night the fuse hung in there for about 15 minutes up and down the road i thought i finally had it figured out but no luck. Captain Hook, i disconnected the plug on the front right axle beside the front differential and had no luck the fuse still blew. I believe that is the one you are talking about ? i still have to try the Indicator switch on top of the transfer case.. Unfortunately i am fresh out of fuses and live in the middle of no where, cant try again till tomorrow night. Any other place i can check?
Finally got around to taking another look at the Jimmy after a busy work week. Ive located the problem at the Indicator Switch on top of the transfer case. when i unplugged the harness the fuse was fine all my lights were on and working soon as i plugged it back in and turn the key on it popped. Remind you i just replaced the Vacuum actuator switch because it was seized and i notice the Indicator is similar could that be my problem? i am currently letting my TCCM reset at the moment.
Update Edit: I pulled the indicator switch cleaned it up there was some metal shavings on it... put it back in replaced all the fuses working or not like the ATF and TBC.. unplugged the TCCM for 1 hour did the turn the key 5 times to reset. Honestly that was the longest the fuse lasted in and out of 4x4 up and down the road then after 30 minutes it blew again... i have to be getting somewhere at least right ??

That's the front axle engagement switch that I was referring to in post #10. It is located on the front differential, (not transfer case) next to the actuator cable. This thread might help you: https://blazerforum.com/forum/2nd-ge...-please-65704/

Speed sensor itself is probably not the problem, however, you might follow that harness forward and look closely for burn or chaffed spots that might be shorting to ground. When you moved the harness, it may have affected whatever is shorting out.
Well, after a much needed vacation and some transitioning at work i finally got around to taking a look at the jimmy again. While i was changing my spark plugs i found the problem it was the front axle engagement switch harness that ended up coming loose and melting against the manifold. So that's where the short was coming from i ended up shorting the wire a bit and removing the burnt piece now it works fine! (eventually i will get a new harness next time i go to the auto wreckers) I appreciate all the help Thanks Captain Hook you were right the entire time! I hope this thread will help someone in the future.

2000 GMC Jimmy 4x4 2-DR 4.3
Okay so where to begin I’ll try to make this short and sweet. The other day while driving home from work from a dead stop my 4x4 was trying to engage partially it almost sounded like I had cards on my rims almost like a dirt bike then when I hit the brakes to slow down you could hear a loud clunk from the passenger front then it would stop.. It wouldn’t do it all the time just randomly. I’ve done my fair share of research (I believe) so I checked my Vacuum line actuator and noticed there is no play in the line and the diaphragm is completely pressed in and everything is tight. I think that would mean it’s in 4x4 even though my buttons says 2HI… next on my list is to check / replace the Vacuum Actuator Switch on top of the transfer case hoping that will be my problem. Currently the fuse is blown for the 4x4 not sure if that another symptom or not but it hasn’t been doing it the past 2 days. I am currently waiting for the actuator switch to be delivered (if im going to take the old one out I might as well replace it). I am just looking for people who’ve had the same experience and maybe some things I should expect and advice.
The video shows no movement in the actuator while truck is running switching between 2hi and 4hi i can hear it trying to switch but nothing happens. (i put a fuse in just for the video) 4x4 Jimmy Actuator - YouTube

First post so I apologize in advance is this is not helpful or not how I reply. I recently replaced my transfercase input and output shaft seals along a bunch of other repairs( rebuilt steering and suspension) and I was also blowing fuse 15. Turns out when I added fluid I didn’t see the wire going to the passenger cv axel and pinched it. So for anyone having this issue, that’s what happened to me. This is my first Chevy (02 blazer Ls 4x4) rookie mistake for sure. Not used to working on American cars. Mostly dealt with Japanese’s crap box drift cars. Hope this helps anyone with a similar issue.
