I just bought this blazer its a 99 4dr LS and i am having a problem with the 4wd it is the 4 button switch with 4wd auto. Its stuck in 4wd. i had to take the fues out under the hood for the transfer case to get it out of 4wd. any ideas of that might be wrong. I think its probably the switch but dont realy want to buy one unless im sure thats what it is because electrical parts can not be returned to the part store after they are installed. if any one can help, thanks.

I hope you get a better response than I did on my problem.
Before you consider swapping the switch, see if you can find someone with an OBD2 tool that can read the codes from your transfer case control module ( not just the ECM like many cheaper ones do ).
There are unique fault codes that ( with the proper service documentation ) can help to point you in the right direction.
I have the same year/model and I am in the middle of debugging a strange problem. I gave up on it for a few days since it was frustrating me. I check back periodically to see if anyone has answered my question, and to see if others have discussed similar problems ( and I noticed this post )
So, two things come to mind:
1) you say you just bought it, if it was a dealer, they have warranties that vary by state, but could be helpful. If it was a private seller, that's different, but if they knew of the problem, well... ( your mileage may vary, you'd have to prove it )
2) you never said whether the service 4wd light was on, when you first turn the key on, does your switch module light up at all, and when running, stuck or not, are any lights on and which are they?
The more detail you provide, the more able the folks are able to help.
If you had a error code, I have service info as I'm sure others do. Post what you find and you should find help.
Good luck!

Yeah, if your "service 4wd" light is illuminated on the dash, the TCCM has a stored code that should give an indication of where to begin your diagnosis.
One area that you can check first is the electrical connections at the TCCM located behind the passenger side kick panel.

Well before i pulled the fuse out for the transfer case it was stuck in 4wd and the service 4wd light was on. now the fuse is out and its out of 4 wheel and the light is off. the lights on the switch its self only flashes on every once and a while when i first turn the truck on. i guess ill have to take it to a shop and have them hook the code reader up.
