Ive got a 95 4.3 that starts nice for about 5 seconds and then dies. Only when eng is cold. I have to fluctuate the rpms for about a min and then it idles nice and have no issues beyond that. When I start it, it also sounds like its sucking/trying to suck, in a bunch of air. Its annoying but not too bad now. Just in the winter it'll be crappy. So like i said, it starts and fires quick but it sounds like its struggling with air and will die after about 3 seconds of crummy idle, but once i play with the rpms for about 1 min it'll smooth out, the air sound will go away, and idle forever. I have no problems with the eng other than that. Any help would be awesome.

Suggest cleaning the IAC and throttle body enterior and the EGR valve. It should not be the EGR valve as it should not be active when first started....but as long as you are cleaning things......
The EGR valve on the '95 is known to have problems...like getting chunks of carbon stuck in the opening, keeping the valve open when it should be closed.
To me this is more likely the IAC and it is easy to clean...just remove the two torx screws and remove the IAC. Clean the tip and the passages in the throttle body...use Q tips to get into the passages...make sure you remove any cotton that comes off the Q tip. Just use some throttle body spray cleaner.
Good luck.
