Default 95 Blazer miss-fire and more frustration (long Post)

I have been reading post after post about this common problem and multiple solutions. The knowledge here on this blog is incredible and that is why I am here. My Story: 95 Blazer, new distributor (billet) AC cap, rotor and plugs. 170 across the board on cylinder pressure. Fuel pressure at the pump 60 psi, fuel pressure at the port 58 down to 55 after 10 minutes. Removed the plenum and no obvious leaks that I can tell from the spider besides it passed all the leak down tests. This being a OBD 1.5 system I had to purchase a special code reader, thanks to Les Myer here on the blog at least I have that much going. And for those who are dealing with pulling codes on this system BAFX Bluetooth adapter on Amazon $21.99 and Dash Command on your Google Play Store for android systems $9.99. All this and P0300. TDC check the rotor location in relation to the cap (3 times), I'm reading in the Chiltons manual about disconnecting a tan wire with a black stripe in order to set the timing. I'm thinking perhaps this takes the advance out of the picture kinda like disconnecting your vacuum advance (old school). Has anybody done this or read about it or even know where this wire might be? The Dash Command program gives you live data, or so it seems. It's showing me 15 to 24 degrees timing and I know that isn't correct. Because I have replaced the distributor I'm trying to set the cam sensor to 0 degrees +/- 2. I'm not sure if I'm getting the correct feedback from the program and my truck for sure has a miss fire, any input would be helpful, again thanks.

One up on you there, I removed the roll pin in the manifold, I moved that distributor every which way and never even got close to 0, that's why I have checked the rotor location at tdc 3 times. I have no more hair left on my head.

Basic Dash Command for $9.95 is not going to read cam retard. You have to buy the extended GM PIDs specific for your vehicle in order to do it for another $10. I don't know if they offer 1995 specific GM PIDS or if the 1996 GM ones will work for the 1995, but those are the two possibilities. It's a try and see. I do know that Dash command successfully does Cam Retard on 1996.

Ignition timing is determined by the crank sensor and the PCM - it is not something that you can set. Cam sensor retard is the rotor position, not the ignition timing. Visually lining things up does not work.

Good luck, and like I said in my PM I will be very interested if you can get cam retard working in Dash Command on a 1995. So let me know if you need help in trying.

Les
