Default 95 S10 keeps blowing ignition module

Help! I am at a loss. I have a 1995 S10 blazer, 4.3L 4x4. It has185,000 miles on it.
History: About 3 months ago it started having a hard time starting but would eventually start after some cranking. So I took last weekend and put plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor on it. After all of that it would not start! At this pointI thought I had done something wrong. So after another hour and getting on the internet, I went andgot myignition module checked at Autozone and they said it was bad. So I got a new one and WOW it started no problem and no hesitation. So I take off run a few errands and stop at a friends and after an hour it would not start. I took the new module back in to autozone and it tested good. I checked the spark etc... everything good. So I called the local mechanic shop they towed it and said that the new ignition module was bad and put on another new 'warner/borg'one and is running fine. I leave the mechanic shop and a few stops later the thing won't start again! What would make ittear up these ignition modules? Could it be an electrical spike? Any clues? I would appreciate any help.
Thanks!
Terry

It could be an electrical spike. Check all your grounds, the charging voltage and the voltage to the module.

Could also be poor quality aftermarket parts. Do you have the ICM in the distributor or is it mounted separately? If it is mounted separately, did the replacement ICM come with new thermal paste for the heat sink? Even when mounted in the distributor, there should be some thermal paste between the ICM and the base of the distributor. If the mounting surface wasn't cleaned off and new paste put on, you could be simply burning up the module. These modules get hot and require good thermal conduction into the base/heat-sink that they mount to for cooling.

Regarding poor qaulity aftermarket parts...... but 2 in a row?!?!? The first one was O'Reilly's house brand and the next was a 'warner/brog'. about a $20 difference.
The ICM is seperate from the distributor and yes both times came with it's own paste. It is mounted on an aluminum heatsink directly in front of the ignition coil.

Will I be able to check the voltage to the ICM if it is not running?

Well, that's what it was 2 bad new ICMs out of the box.
What are the chances of that?!?!?
Thanks for the input.
I'm off to buy a lottry ticket.
