Default 96 Blazer relay problem?

Howdy. Great forums, lots of helpful information here.

I searched this forum with the search tool and found some similar errors, but nothing concrete.

My problem is regarding the headlights/brights/DRL.

A few months back, I'd noticed a buzzing coming from the relays in the glovebox that coincided with intermittent headlight failures. Switching on the high beams always fixed the problem, and I assumed that the relay was the culprit, and that'd I'd just let the relay go completely bad on its own.

Last week, I lost headlights entirely. I still have DRLs, but they're very dim. The headlight switch turned on all the lights it was supposed to inside and out, with the exception of the headlights themselves, and the brights won't come on either, nor will the indicator on the instrument panel. I replaced the two relays in the glove box on the left side, as the buzzing was coming from one of the two, and they were only $9. Nothing changed after I replaced them, however. Still no headlights/brights. The headlight switch itself still gets quite warm, however. The DRL are incredibly dim and really not safe to drive at night with.

Interesting: I read a thread a little while ago where someone was asked if they had something on the dash covering the left speaker grille - I did. I removed that, and now when the key is on the headlights appear to be on. However, the headlight switch still doesn't turn on the headlights, and the high beams don't work, either.

Am I looking at a bad headlight switch? Or is something else to blame? I'd rather not go spend $50 on a headlight switch and have that not be the problem.

Thanks for any help you guys can offer!
