Possible fuel pump relay problem.

Default Possible fuel pump relay problem.

HI I am new here and I hope you guys can help me with an interesting problem that cropped up recently.

Last week I was driving my 96 Blazer and I heard a whining coming from the vehicles rear, the noise got louder until the engine died. After sitting for about 5 minutes I was able to restart it and finish my drive home. I let it run in my driveway until it got hot and traced the whine to the fuel tank(fuel pump I am thinking at this point), but the vehicle restarts faithfully after 5 minutes of cooling each time it dies. I took it to my mechanic to be sure and he didn't know what to make of it, but the fuel pressure is deffinately fine.

I have been driving it anyway for a week now and it never dies in the morning because it is cold out and only ever dies under hot conditions.
Yesterday I noticed that if I press any of the window buttons when the pump begins to whine the noise dies down and it runs for a little longer.

In fact. when the pump begins to whine doing anything that draws current will stop the problem for a few minutes.

I'm planning on checking the relay, but I am unaware of where it is even located.

Any help suggestions or advice will be much appreciated.

It Does not sound like a fuel pump relay at all........
The first thing I would do is check the Battery for proper Voltage, Dirty Battery Cable Connections, and possible Dirty Ground Straps. Bad battery juice has been known to have an ill effect on Blazer fuel pumps and hundred's of other things on our trucks... Process of Elimination

sounds like the bearings in the fuel pump motor are going bad and start to bind when they get hot. I'm not sure why playing with the window switches would solve the problem, it probabally momenarily lowers the RPM of the fuel pump motor and allows the spindle to settle into a slightly different spot on the bearing. I'd be thinking about replacing that fuel pump before too long.
