Were there any additional gizmos or accessories added recently? If not, try replacing the headlight switch? Are you sure that's where the short is? Just because you blow the #3 fuse when you hit the light switch, doesn't point only to that circuit or switch necessarily. Try connecting a test light to the #3 circuit at the fuse panel and then pull/replace fuses one by one till the test light calms down/dims. When this happens, you have found the circuit that the #3 circuit has been shorted to. Then when you look at the schematics, it should be much easier to fix.

How did you make out with this so far?

I can't recall the number of the fuse, but check the park lamp fuse. This fuse also controls the BCM (Body Control Module) and if this fuse is blown, it will cause the headlamps to do all sorts of weird things, possibly overloading them and then causing THAT (Fuse 3) to blow.

I don't think we ever established whether or not any aftermarket electronics were installed or behind-dash repairs were done? Has there been any modifications with reference to cutting, splicing, scotchlock connects, etc?

Thanks!

Glad it's sorted but it looks like the gremlin tool while to tie down as they sometimes do!

Take care!
