97 blazer engine ground strap
does anyone know where the engine to chassis or firewall ground strap should be on a 97 4.3 w blazer? i have looked at 2 or 3 97's and see no obvious ground.on a 98 the strap is from the passenger side fire wall to the engine block near the distributor.
yup, i know that is where it is on a 98. i cant find it on my 97 or another i have looked at.if anyone out there has a 97, can you look and report back if you have a ground there or some other place. thanks
been all over the engine and don't see it. there is a braided covering over a pipe on the drivers side of the engine. it runs from the top front to the left rear of the engine. i would guess it is a coolant line, but not sure. the line is about an inch +- in diameter. on the 98's there is a stud on the firewall for the strap. the 97 does not have it.
right , i have already run a heavy "0" gauge from the alternator bracket to the neg battery terminal to the chassis. the point is i have yet to find a engine ground on all of the 97 blazers i have looked at. I work at AZ so i have seen a few of them. all of the 98's and up have a ground strap at the right rear of the engine, none of the 97's.have it. did chevy not install them??
GM says the battery grond is on the block below the water pump and the engine ground is...
G104 (4.3L Engine)
RH rear of engine, on head
I have removed many of these over the years to replace head gasket, but I've only seen a few.
They tend to put them on the back of the head right in line with the trasmission dipstick, which makes them almost impossible to see.
