does anyone know where the engine to chassis or firewall ground strap should be on a 97 4.3 w blazer? i have looked at 2 or 3 97's and see no obvious ground.on a 98 the strap is from the passenger side fire wall to the engine block near the distributor.

The strap should be from the firewall to the back of the right hand cylinder head. It's easier to feel it than it is to see it.

Try the other side. On my '93 the ground strap is on the drivers side by the fuel lines. It attaches to the drivers head. Pain in the butt to get to, let alone find.

been all over the engine and don't see it. there is a braided covering over a pipe on the drivers side of the engine. it runs from the top front to the left rear of the engine. i would guess it is a coolant line, but not sure. the line is about an inch +- in diameter. on the 98's there is a stud on the firewall for the strap. the 97 does not have it.

If you can't find a ground stap, you can make one and install it yourself.

right , i have already run a heavy "0" gauge from the alternator bracket to the neg battery terminal to the chassis. the point is i have yet to find a engine ground on all of the 97 blazers i have looked at. I work at AZ so i have seen a few of them. all of the 98's and up have a ground strap at the right rear of the engine, none of the 97's.have it. did chevy not install them??

GM says the battery grond is on the block below the water pump and the engine ground is...
G104 (4.3L Engine)
RH rear of engine, on head
I have removed many of these over the years to replace head gasket, but I've only seen a few.
They tend to put them on the back of the head right in line with the trasmission dipstick, which makes them almost impossible to see.
