Default 97 Blazer multifunction switch, again

I posted here a while ago about my 97 Blazer whose brake lights, turn signals, and tail lights don't work. Bulbs are good, all fuses are good. I discovered that the hazard light switch is missing out of the column. Can anyone give me an idea if this could be the problem? I'm planning to buy the entire multifunction switch assembly, but if I don't have to buy the whole thing, that would be great. Problem is, the car is in Puerto Rico, and it's almost impossible to get parts there. If the switch is missing (pulled out or broken off) will it cause these lights to stop working? Thanks, by the way, for all the earlier advice.

Default RE: 97 Blazer multifunction switch, again

GM Hazard Switch Repair Kit part # 15174447. I'm not sure where you'd be able to find it other than possibly a GM dealership down there, but even if you have to go to the dealership to get the part, it isn't expensive.

You'll need a pair of needle-nose pliers. Basically, you'll use the needle nose pliers to remove the rest of the switch that is still down inside. Once you have removed that, smear the included dielectric grease over the contacts on the hazard switch and press it down into the column. The higher portion of the top of the switch should be towards the gauge cluster.

I know that some years had a recall on this, however, I do not think that '97 was one of them...
