Default 97 Bravada power seat

so i bought a bravada the other day and it had the infamous burnt up circuit breaker and power seat problem....i removed the seat and took it apart and the plug for the switch to move the seat backwards and forwards had about 3 wires kinda melted together so I cut off the bad and spliced them back together. the fuse quit blowing, but when i press the button i can hear the motor come one, but the seat doesn't move.... any help? I had to splice some extra wire in to make up the distance, the outer diameter was the same but when i stripped it, i realized it had more insulation, would this keep the motor from getting enough juice to move? thanks in advance for all your help, the oldsmobileforums are pretty much dead.
