Default 98 Blazer with no overhead display

I just bought a 98 blazer zr2 and the overhead display that has the compass, etc does not work... there is nothing on the display screen. All the other dash lights and options work. Checked the fuses and looks like they are all good. Any ideas?

3 specific fuses you're interested in: all in the instrument panel fuseblock, RDO IGN, ILLUM, CTSY LP. If they're good - then you'd have to pull that overhead console down & pull that 9 pin connector out of it. (do NOT probe any other wires than what I mention in that connector - trashed computers may result....) Checking with a test lamp connected to a good ground, in that connector, the Orange wire should always have power, dark Green has power when key is in RUN or ACCSY position, and the Gray has power if the headlights or parking lights are turned on. If everything has checked out so far connect the test lamp between the Orange and Black/White in that connector (it's a ground). If that ground checked out go to the bone yard and hunt for another display.

You can pop it apart and look for a questionable solder joint with a magnifying glass. Could be a cold solder joint on a board if you like to tinker.
