98 blazer sputter, miss, nostart
First of all I am a new guy, and I have visiting ur guys site to help solve a "no start" problem w/98 Blazer 4.3 thr body motor. I fixed the vehicle.I would have
been all over the place w/o the guidance. THANK YOU !!!. So Ive decided to join to offer up what my situation was and what I did to fix it. I first checked
fuel system starting w/tank moving, forward along lines to filter, then up into
engine compartment. NOLeaks. P tested fuel pump at S valve, was within spec w/no leak down. OK, now elec/sys.Pulled #3 wire from D-cap ran wire
as ground to block.......yellow spark AH HAA.Splug wires look good, remove
D cap Ah Haa. Had a carbon arc crack at center where rotor makes contact
very very tiny. All components where generally fried. Theses looked to be OEM
to the car at 133,000 miles. Rand R cap and Rotor. NOStart. Tested w/ Wire
off New cap .......yellow spark. OK move back up from D cap to coil. Coil was
riveted to mounting plate. this told factory coil. R and R coil and ICM. Tested
yellow spark w ...WHAT!!!!!! By this time was dark out and getting a little pissed... Then I saw it. I asked my son to crank one more time and a little tiny arc appeared at the heater hose going thru the fire wall AH HAA. the coil wire was layed up in between Heater hose in and Heater hose return rubbing. I must have knock it into such a position that I could see it arc
to the Heater hose. REPLACED. VAROOM..... HAHA>>>> Thanks
