99 Blazer LIM Repair Killed a Timing Chain
#11
I really need some help! I am a female and do not know much about cars, i have a 2000 blazer 4.3 engine. The other day i was driving and it just stalled out. Now i have had 3 guys look at it and they all say its the timing belt! These are just their opinions by seeing me try to crank it, and i asked a couple people and they all say at least $700! Is this right is there any way to do it myself or get it done cheaper i am not rich and live check to check and im not really able to afford this! Please any suggestion will be greatly appreciated!!!

Your help
You figured out there is no timing belt. Yes the cost is related to who you get to do the work. Parts are not really expensive, the labor is.

I agree with the statemant that the roller chain is no less durable. 225,000 miles and still rollin! I remember swapping out the old style chains back in the 80's on cars with less tha 75,000 miles on them. Tahts when they still ran the fiber gears. Now THAT was junk!
