'99 blazer rear gate button
Hi all, I just purchased a '99 blazer and we Love the blazer except for one thing. We don't know if there is a way to change the settings or disable or something, but we do not like it that when the doors are locked and you push the gate button in the back then the gate opens, but it sets off the alarm. Is there any way to change it so that if the doors are locked, it disables the button from the outside? To me, that is no safer than not locking the doors, but having the security system set so if the door opens then the alarm goes off. Is everyone's like that with the back gate? Great site by the way!

With the locks activated, the tailgate/liftgate should be locked, also. Sounds like you have a faulty lock back there.

I had the exact same thing happen to me 3 years ago. I removed the rear door panel and unplugged the button. The rear latch still opens using the remote and the switch on the dash, but the button does nothing. Easy fix. Hope that helps

Thanks for the replies! I talked to the dealership and they said that when the doors are locked, the gate should be also, so that the button can't unlock the glass. they said the lock solenoid sounds faulty. I think i'll just unplug the button like rob did. thanks again.
