Default 99 blazer wont start

my blazer was running just fine.........
1. ran out of gas
2. put gas from old gas can in friends yard in
3. ran for about 5 miles then died, wouldnt start
4. added more gas from new can with fresh gas (approx. 7 gallons)
5. added fuel injector cleaner as well as additive to remove water
6. still will not start, engine turns over
7. have tapped gas tank where fuel pump is while trying to start, no start
8. fuel pump makes noise when ignition on
9. disconnected fuel line from output end of fuel filter and gas comes out when ignition on
10. any suggestions? seems like something electrical, but not sure why caused by my chain of events.

please, i need my blazer....

Bad gas? I'd start by draining everything in the tank since you don't know WHAT was in that can in the front yard (could have water and gunk in it). Change fuel filter. Put FRESH gas in.....then go from there.

When in doubt recheck the last thing you touched. In this case you put in gas from a can in the yard, i'd say that's probably your problem.

what would be the best method for draining the gas? hopefully not involving dropping the tank

Either dropping the tank, or if you're feeling froggy unhooking the fuel filter and powering the fuel pump and pumping it out into a can/jug and praying you don't clog up the sock on the end of the filter and have to drop the tank anyway.
