99 fuel filter quick connect fitting - Purolator
Ok, so I replaced the pump (AC Delco) and filter (Purolator) and everything was just dandy. No leaks, had 60+ PSI, ran great. Drove 13 miles, got out of the truck and there was a huge puddle of fuel on the ground... discovered that the quick disconnect fitting had popped loose.
I'm thinking I just didn't get the connector on as good as I thought, but just wanted to see if anyone else has run into this.
I've read through every post I can find that appears to be related by searching on fuel filter, and haven't come across this particular issue.
So....short of pulling the filter bracket back off (It's a major PITA in my opinion - it is a stupid place to put it), is there any way to be sure that I've got the top side of the quick disconnect fitting latched in place? Does it sound like I possibly have a defective filter connector on the filter itself, or did I just not eat enough Wheaties this morning?
Thanks,
Jonathan

I just push them together until I hear the two clicks of the retaining dogs clicking out into the windows in the line. After the clicks, I give it a tug to make sure it's on there good.
That bracket is just held on by one bolt, IIRC. Not too hard to remove.
