Default ABS & Brake light comes on after awhile...

On my 2000 blazer,,,the brakes seem to work fine, but sometimes while driving, the abs & brake light comes on for no apparent reason....i'll shut the key off , and restart it and the lights go out,,,I know it's not a big deal being that the brakes work fine,,,but the lights are annoying,,,any ideas on how to keep the lights from coming on without ripping the dash apart and removing the bulbs, or putting black tape over them?? thanks

your sensor is probably loose or dirty. when I go 4 wheeling mine comes on hitting bumps and going through puddles then its off when I'm driving around town. try slamming on your brakes in your neighborhood and see if the abs engages

You can check to make sure that the wheel bearings are tight. I don't know what year and if it is 2wd or 4wd cause it was not posted by the OP.

If they are loose that can cause the tone ring to move away from the sensor and cause to much of an air gap and cause the abs light to come on and it will clear when you shut off the vehicle cause when you turn the key back on it does not recognize a problem. Then after you drive a little it will come on because the rotor is moving around.

Oh, too...if the ABS light is on then the ABS System will not work...your brakes will work but, not the ABS feature....also check your brake fluid level that can cause the brake light to come on.

Sorry about that it's a 2000 and it's a 2WD

Default Same issue

Is it possible to have a scan performed to tell which sensor it is?

M ABS light has been on for 3 years! I had both front hubs replaced and about a month later the ABS light came on. Had the hubs checked and they're tight. Brakes work fine but light is still on. All these lights & sensors really **** me off. They take the fun out of simply driving. Same is true with all things Digital. It's all BS and it's getting worse.
