Default ac controller replacement

Have a 2002 ZR2. Air conditioner stop blowing cold air. Was told by mechanic that problem was traced back to the ac controller (unit in the dash). Told that the unit provides power to the compressor and that there is a switch or something on the backside of the unit thatgoes bad. Has anyone ever installed a new unit?

Replacement is pretty easy. Remove the dash panel and the controler is right there, a few screws and then a coule of connectors and it's done. You'll need to remove the knee bolster to remove the dash panel.
I don't know what kind of knowledge and experience you have but just let us know and we'll help in more detail if you need it.

Thanks for the reply. I found some pictures showing how to remove the dash in the section involving removal and replacement of the radio (should be the same procedure in replacing the ac controller). So I am going to give it a shot.
