Accel or AC delco
#22
Silver, copper, and gold, followed by aluminum are the best conductors of electricity. AC Delco caps use aluminum terminals. The problem with aluminum is that it oxidizes. A dab of silicone dielectric grease on each terminal, (inside and out) of the cap, slows the oxidation process. The insulation of the runners in the cap is an area that the aftermarket manufacturers fail miserably at, they can't seem to get it right. As a result, you end up with crossfire in the cap. Stick with AC Delco cap & rotor. Make sure that camshaft retard is within factory specs, that alone will increase cap & rotor longevity. AC Delco 41-993 plugs with a gap of .060" along with Autolite Professional Series wires. They're 1/3 the price of AC Delco wires and have better specs.

I had a clear plastic HEI cap on one of my old V8's
It was cool to see running in the dark LOL
I would have thought the ignition rotor spun much faster at idle than it does BTW
I prefer delco plugs on GM ,NGK on imports , champion for dodge and Autolite on Ford
Because of the stated issues with 4.3's I would likely always use all delco stuff

Stick with that and you can't go wrong.

Happen to have a set of Bosch plugs in my unit with an Echlin cap&rotor-no problems, anyone that says that one has to have AC parts is wrong!
I have been running quality aftermarket products for 35 years in all my Chevys and never had a lick of problems! I have found that QUALITY replacement parts are far superior to Delco junk, especially in the small blocks!
