Default Airplane Noise

I have a 98 Chevy Blazer 4door 4x4. I just got the vehicle a couple months ago and so far have replaced: Intake gasket, valve cover gasket, both front axle and hub bearings, new vacuum switch, rear diff gasket, front diff fluid, thrust washers, oil change, and a tranny filter and fluid is in the near future. I have this horrible airplane noise that starts around 25-30mph. The faster you go (obviously) the louder and higher pitched the noise gets. My mechanic said it was possible the luggage rack was causing the noise, but after moving the racks around still no change. I noticed while adjusting the crossbars on the rack that they are shaped similar to an airplane wing, but the skinny part of the bar is facing the back of the vehicle. Its like this on both bars. Was just wondering if anyone knew if they were on backwards or if their installed correctly, or if anyone might have an idea whats causing the noise.

I've got a 93 and it's facing the same as yours, thin part to the back..Could it be the radio antenna?

Thios is going to sound like a stupid question: What type of airplane? A prop job or a jet? Prop job could be from the front axle splines partially engaging or if its a jet the something is in the air stream.

Hello! Why haven't you checked the fan clutch?

sorry i havn't posted back in a couple days....its more similar to a jet, but more like a whirring sound. it's not the fan clutch, if it was it would be RPM dependent and not speed dependent. I realize that its probably something in the airstream of the vehicle, however there was no noise the first 2 weeks i had the vehicle, and nothing has changed in the body lines. only exterior alteration was fog lights, but it was making the noise before i put them on.

Does the noise change if you're driving 35 or so mph and change lanes quickly? Just because a hub assembly is new, doesn't always mean it's good.
