Any downside to removing front driveshaft?
After winter passes and I no longer have a need for 4WD, is there any downside to removing the front driveshaft? I want to see if it will help me a little with gas mileage. A friend of mine told me even though I have it set for 2WD, the transfer case is still actively driving the shaft but not engaging (locking) the front wheels in. Obviously I would put it back when winter returns.
Thanks in advance...

Wasn't really sure, I have a 1st gen and my t-case yolk bolts on. Just thought I've seen slip yolks in some np233 or 231 but that might have been heep junk too. Posilock for the win, I just don't lock my front end in and have 2lo on demand from my seat.
You are correct Neo.It bolts on to the front axel and slips out of the Tcase.
I did my delete forever ago,and from pulling the front end stuff out, interior 4wd stuff, taking off the tire rack i gained a little, and she felt a little preppier too. Sorta like when you push all your fat friends out of the car. lol
