Any tricks to installing CV axle in a 2000 Blazer 4x4?
I replaced the ball joints and tie rod ends, but the bungee cord that I had supporting the axle broke, causing the cv axle to slip off the inside boot and left the inner casing attached to the shaft.
I took a block of wood and tapped the casing and it came out easily.
After replacing the grease and clamp, I went to reinstall the cv axle back in ( I have not yet removed the lower part of the front shock, which may give me more room), but there is a clip about an inch or 2, on the end of the shaft that I am trying to slide the axle over (it has splines before and after the clip), preventing me from sliding the axle onto the splined shaft.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

The clip on the end of the CV axle is what locks the axle in; trick here is to put a dab of grease on the clip so that it stays centered on the axle and then slide the axle into the differential. You will need to give the axle a pretty good shove. Afterwards to check, give the axle a little pull to make sure it is locked in.
