Anyone know about transfer cases??
I think what you're referring to is the input shaft seal of the transfer case leaks and fluid from the automatic trans gets pulled into the transfer case. Engine oil can't get into the transmission.
The fill plug on the rear differential is on the passenger side, forward of the axle tubes. It's about the same height as the driveshaft, and is just above a "ledge" on the differential housing. You use a 3" long 3/8" extention to remove and reinstall the plug, (no socket required).

Yeah after I said that I'm thinking its just really old trnansmission fluid that's never been changed and awesome thank you ill go look for the plug on the rear diff bbut it could do all this just because the tranny had lost all the fluid? Danm I'm an idiot
Your manual transmission has seals on both the input & output shafts. Not likely that the trans fluid is migrating to the transfer case. Pull the differential cover off and have a look inside. Gasket is a few bucks, and you'll need about 2 quarts of 80W90 gear lube.
Ok so I got am update I would like an opinion .. pulled the diff cover off gears look fine know broken gears I saw. Drained the tranny fluid "there was about 2 3 quarts still in it. Tommarows going to be hooking the transfer case back in top the fluids off and try it out do you think there's anything else you could think to check before I do put it back on?
Oh and I did nedd a ratchet to get the fill plug off the rear diff
