It seems I have a MAJOR short somewhere. Is it possible for a bad ignition switch to cause the following WITHOUT the key in the ignition:
1.The alarm that sounds for leaving headlights on or key in ignition with door open sounds.
2. I hear something buzzing behind glove box.
3.The temp gauge bounces around.
4. I hear a clicking sound like a relay turning on/off (behind emerg brake release pedal).
5. When I try to start the engine, I hear numerous other electrical things trying to acuate, such as CD player, rear window wiper.
Of course, the engine does not start either.
I have seen some great how to's here for changing the ignition switch from Swart and wolfpack, and just wonder if I should go there?
Thanks much

1. For sure could be a crapped out ignition switch - thinks there's still a key in it but there isn't and the circuit is still completed.
2. could be any number of things - i'm not gonna go there cuz i have no clue lol
rest sorry i have no idea with either BUT the cd player and some other various things (other than rear wiper) do shut off and come back on when u attempt to start a vehicle, its to give the starter allll available power rather than accessories draining it.
Hope u get this figured out but i suspect you're either going to have to disect your current switch or replace it.
