Default Battery dies/No Start Intermittent

Hey Guys,

I have a 01 Blazer with 77k on it with some weird electrical issues. My problem is that occasionally the truck acts like it has a dead battery. It has happened regardless at to whether or not it is the first start of the day or I just ran into the store for 10 minutes. I have to get out my jump pack to get it to start. Even then it is a little finicky. Almost like a loose connection? Like I said, sometimes it will do this twice in a week then never happen for another month. I had the battery tested at Advanced and they said it was good. I have noticed that some gauges will move even with the truck off and key out. The fuel gauge tends to move as do some of the others I think.

I want to just replace the battery but don't want to spend the $$$ because it tested good. The battery is only 2 years old.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Travis

if your gauges are acting weird as well as a no crank condition, it is most likely a bad connection, check the stater connections also.

I would check the electrical connections as well as make sure the cables are clean and tight. I had a battery drain on my 94 Blazer recently. The thing would go dead if you didm't drive it every day. I cleaned, tightened and looked at everything and then came to the starter solenoid. When I pulled the starter all of the connections were tight but after a little investigation I found the inside of the solenoid was loose from the outer case. You could actually turn it a little. I replaced both the starter (broken solenoid bolt and no easy-out handy) and solenoid and haven't had a problem since.

Security Light? The only thing I can think of is occasionally I have noticed that the ABS Light and Parking brake light would turn on randomly going down the road. Once before that the entire gauge cluster lost power, then came back. Imagine turning the key off, then on, while going down the road. The truck didn't quit though!!!

Could this maybe be because of that TBS about the ignition switch?

Like I said, I have had some weird electrical problems.
