Default Battery drain and gate ajar

Hey all,

My MIL has a 2000 blazer that keeps draining the battery. She will drive it and overnight the battery will be dead. When I jump start it the "gate ajar" light is on every time. I have traced it to the lift glass not the gate. So, I'm thinking that while driving it is either rattling the glass or the striker is not closing the loop to make the dome light shut off.

I've seen a few threads here with similar issues, but still not sure if there is a separate fuse for the button on the dash that if I removed it would eliminate the gate ajar light? I've tested the battery (only 2 years old by the way) out of the vehicle and the alternator and both are checking out good.

Any help appreciated.
Thanks

The "gate ajar" light on the dash is for the glass, not the tail gate. If it's left ajar, the courtesy lights will come on however, there is a timer that should shut them off after ~ 10 minutes. Maybe the timer is not working, allowing the courtesy lights to drain the battery. Pull the courtesy light fuse or make sure the glass is latched.
