Default battery problem?

1997 ls. a couple times a day my blazer just dies. wont start for a min. or two and then starts right up. batt. gauge reads low after it dies. I take out kay wait for a few and it starts up. after it starts batt gauge back to 14 volts. does this sound like a battery or what?

Default RE: battery problem?

you could have dirty ternimals, take a wire tooth brush and mineral oil and clean them, then check for any lose wires

Sounds more like an ignition switch failure than a battery problem. A battery typically won't go from flat dead to good enough to start the truck. Also, a bad battery shouldn't cause the truck to die...

Did you remove the battery cables. I have seen quite a few of the AC Delco batteries corrode on the inside of the positive post. My Bravada had this happen. One second, it would start, the next second, it was dead when you turned the key to the 'start' position. I would really inspect the battery.

On the ignition switch, well, that is a difficult one. On the newer trucks, the tell tale is the security light being on while you are trying to start it, but your truck does not have such a light.
