Default Best Bang for my Buck

I just recently bought an 01 blazer 2 door 4.3l with 70,000 miles. I'm just trying to becoming aware what problems should i be expecting. How long can these things last. And most importantly what is the best thing to do in order to make sure it keeps moving as long as possible without major repairs. And advice, personal experiences, or general ideas would be appreciated.
