Default Blazer running problems

I have a 96 4x4 4 door that has been giving me trouble recently. Yesterday after work I was sitting at a stop light and the whole car starts lurching and acting like it wanted to cut off. It almost felt like somebody was pushing the car from behind. A mile up the road it did cut off and I coasted in to a gas station. Put gas in it just to make sure that wasnt the problem b/c the gauge is off, and it still didnt start. Got it towed home. This morning I go out and it started after a couple of tries. Then on my way to work today it starts bogging once it got warm and cut off and wont start back. Any suggestions on where to start? Thanks

I would start by changing the fuel filter and testing the fuel pump pressure according to this procedure.

After the fuel pressure test, if that checks out, I would go through the basics of a tune up. Remove the throttle body and EGR valve and thoroughly clean them both. A new gasket will be required for the EGR valve and one is available with an integrated screen on the inlet side to protect the valve. If you do not know how long it has been, or it has been a very long time since the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor were changed, do that as well. Sometimes it can be simple things.

If it seems to be heat related, you could remove the ICM (ignition control module) and coil and have them tested. When/if you do, have the test run several (~10) times in rapid succession to get the components up to operating temperature as most faults disappear as the components cool.

Could the plugs, wires, cap, and rotor be heat relelated?

Not typically.

You can check the wires by misting them down with water in a spray bottle at night in a dark location. If you get a light show, the wires are leaking spark.
