Default Blazer Trouble

I am having a little issue with how my Blazer is driving. I have been wondering about an issue i have with accelerating.

-For one my vehicle revs at 400-600rpm idle
-when i start it up it wont go right away; moves sluggish
-When i hit the gas pedal, it really has to slow down and shift or something before it gets faster

My friend and think i may need a new distributor, does that sound about right or...?

I also have the gas gauge issue and had to replace the alternator a couple months ago

Any advice?

I'd say no to the new distributor idea. You may need a new dist. cap and rotor though. But I'm kinda thinking transmission.

When you say it has to slow down...do you mean it stumbles on itself, or does it feel like the transmission is freewheeling and downshifting? What do your RPMs do when it slows up?

If it's the downshift youre feeling, I'd say check the transmission fluid level first..but we need some more info

Well when i say it slows down, it will stumble and the tach wont move(this is from a stop), other times the tach will fly right up with not much acceleration ( this is when i am driving)

I really should NOT of said:

"fried"

asthe main computerfunctioned almost perfectly minus the sudden accelerating, asthough i was showing off like a clown looking for a stunting ticket from the cops.It would also jump and lope when warm up in the morning like a ghost was hitting the gas pedal every 10-40seconds.But it would run perfect UNTIL it started to get warm..then it was hell all dam day!
Here's a tip for you:
Go look under your Blazer and look for the possibility that some meathead welded either your muffler or cat converter.I found welds on mine and i strongly bet that is what goofed up my computer,by not unhooking the battery!
(just a 1% possibility for you)
